Advancing Your Mind Power

There are many estimates by experts regarding the brain/mind. Most agree that at least three relevant observations are true:

1. Somehow the mind can alter and control even things formerly thought to be a matter of DNA. (Example: multiple personality studies have shown eye color changes as sudden as the personality switch).

2. Only approximately 10% of the brain's ability is tapped by normal people.
The remaining 90% can be likened to an unused muscle--atrophied.

3. There is no law of limitation except that which is self imposed.
Most have literally been programmed, like a computer,
with what computer people term GIGO (garbage in, garbage out).

That is, they have been subjected to repeated messages teaching self doubt, fear, anxiety, etc.
This programmed language of limitation has become their life script,
their expectation, and therefore most of their reality.

I cherish each moment of my life.
I am not hiding my love from people.
I resolve to help my friends in need of support.
I am strong. I can grow from pain.
I intend to live my life to the fullest: my time is precious.
I will become open to new pathways and new relationships.
I am learning.

......................................

It's easy to make a claim.
We have put our technology and products to the test. Independent researchers at leading universities, such as Stanford, have studied our work. In the most rigorous of scientific research designs, the double blind study, our programs have repeatedly demonstrated their effectiveness. From Weight Loss to Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), from stress to depression, from learning to examination anxiety, and more, we have demonstrated our ability to
facilitate your mind power.

Your mind is incredible. The brain has been compared to a computer in a sort of bio-computer analogy. The analogy has power--but it is an understatement. Science has discovered many of the hard wired connections that appear to give the brain/mind so much control over the body (health, wellness, longevity, youthfulness) and our destinies in terms of success, learning, wealth and prosperity.

In fact, it seems like it must have been the dark ages when people doubted the role of the mind in creating their lives. Still, what we have discovered is only the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

When believing in yourself matters!

Affirmation:

A positive statement that is repeated or written to oneself until it has “taken root”
or is established in the mind.

At first, you may not believe that you have large amounts of the qualities listed below. Nevertheless, begin by assuming that you do have some of all of these qualities - enough to have brought you this far. Picture what life will be like if you possess them to an even greater degree.

Courage

Acknowledge the courage which has enabled you to face your feelings. Courage is being afraid, but
doing it anyway. Keep the courage!

Patience

Accept that you will not always be strong and that grief will take time.

Resilience

The capacity to bounce back from stress and go on is something that can be learned; ability increases with experience and age.

Perseverance and Endurance

Have the faith that lasting through the pain will get you through.

Capacity to Distance

It can be helpful to step back and view life from afar, see what has happened, is happening and can happen. Move ahead!

Sense of Humor

Regaining your ability to smile and laugh is not a betrayal of your pain; grief is a curious mixture of many emotions. Laughter and humor may provide some necessary relief and strength for the suffering you are experiencing.

Openness to Others

Many people say that without friends and relatives to support them, they would have had far more pain and loneliness during their period of grief. Choose your confidants carefully and use them. You may be wise to choose more than one.

Writing down affirmations seems to have certain advantages.

When we write affirmations, the mind, hand, and eye are all involved. Many people resist the notion of writing because it sounds so simple, but it is perhaps because of simplicity that this method often works so powerfully for many people.

Who are we?

We are people like you—presumably—who believe that how we think about our lives pretty much affects how they turn out. That living a positive lifestyle is the best way to avoid living a negative one.
POSITIVE THINKING Attitude is Everything is a lifestyle brand appealing to people who know that their outlook on life determines the quality of their life, and that a great attitude isn’t necessarily something we are born with. It is something that must be developed and maintained in a variety of dynamic, personally fulfilling and downright enjoyable ways. Positive Thinking permeates every major life area—work, family, friendships, community, health, spirit; it encompasses mind, body and soul. Above all, Positive Thinking celebrates the daily joys of life. It is informational and inspirational, and through its products and services helps people take practical, positive steps towards a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life—to step up to joy. Through Positive Thinking you can change your life today.

You need to eliminate the negativity around you.
You must first believe that YOU CAN manifest your destiny.

It must be a positive, powerful belief not just 'maybe I'll try and see if this works". Together with Visualizations, you can create the life you want.

Affirmations are statements of acceptance that one uses to allow the manifestation of your destiny. They are powerful and positive thoughts and statements sent out to the universe. To do positive affirmations...

Decide what area of your life you want to work on and then decide what you want. There are several important points to know about affirmations:

Use the present or past tense. Do not use the future tense. You want your mind to know it has already happened

Be POSITIVE. Use the most positive terms you can. Never use negatives in affirmations

Write them. As you are learning to do affirmations, write them down so you will remember exactly what you want to say. Keep them short and very specific. Personalize them with your name.

Believe. Always believe that what you are saying is happening. The more you believe, the stronger the affirmation.

Repetition.

Being repetive and persisteant helps to set them in your head and in your unconscious being.

Time.
Always have a specific time daily set aside for your meditations, affirmations and visualizations.
This will help set a pattern for you so you will do them daily.

MAY YOUR GOD BLESS~

I will offer myself ample gentleness, compassion, forgiveness and
open my heart to the support    I need and deserve

Start by agreeing you will offer yourself plenty of gentleness, forgiveness and compassion each morning the next two months. Offering yourself gentleness means you will refuse to harshly judge yourself, even if you fail your own or someone else's expectations. Being gentle means you will remind yourself you are human, fallible, and likely to make a number of mistakes this holiday season, no matter how much you try to be perfect. Being forgiving means when you make those mistakes, you will say to yourself, "I forgive me for being human and fallible this holiday season, and accept I am doing the very best I am capable of in this moment". Being compassionate means you will offer yourself hugs, and reassurance that no matter what, you still deserve to be valued and cared for.

This is a time of year when we need all the support we can find.  Open your heart both so that you can be available to others who need your support, and so that you can receive and ask for the support you need. Opening your heart can be scary, especially if you have a history of being hurt by others when you are vulnerable. If you can give yourself permission to trust a little, guarding yourself as much as you need to, you may find you can let someone in at least a little. You may find this person will be able to help you feel even a little more supported, which can help with feelings of isolation and shame. If your are distant from your blood family, then picking people who can be members of your "family of choice" may help in some small or large way to make up for the distance we may feel from blood family members.

Trust the 12-step wisdom of "one step at a time", and doing the "next right thing". Both of these slogans remind us about the importance of being patient with ourselves and pacing ourselves as best as possible, and reminding us that the next right thing is good enough, even though it is often not the perfect next thing. Be willing too to examine your expectations of yourself and others, and be willing to revise these expectations. Doing less and doing it well is often desirable to doing more and getting all stressed out, often with less than desirable outcomes.

Lastly, experiment with letting go. By this I mean give yourself permission to let go of one tradition you always do which may be enjoyable in the long run, but extremely stressful in the short run. For some people, they decide I am not going to send out 100 holiday cards this year and they pare down their list to a more manageable number--some decide not to send any. Others may choose to decorate less, or perhaps not at all. Others of you may let go by being willing to spend less money on gifts and more time on thoughtful cards.

Here are some examples of good personal growth and
self improvement affirmations.

* To lose weight: I am slim and trim; I only eat when I'm hungry.
* To stop smoking: I breathe clean, fresh air; I am stronger than any habit.

* For depression: I am a worthwhile person; I attract joy into my life.

* For anger: I feel wonderful today; I have peace of mind.

* For fear and anxiety: I release all my negative emotions; I am confident.

* For stress management:

Here are the four basic guidelines for developing good affirmations:

The first guideline is that the affirmation should be stated in the present tense
Start with words like "I am..." or "I have...".

You want to be telling your mind that it is taking place now.

Next, the affirmation should relate that what you want is already accomplished. "I am happy now" is superior to and will work better than "I am becoming happy" or "I will be happy".

The affirmation should be positive.
" I feel safe" works but the affirmation
" I am not scared" does the opposite of what you want.
It focuses your mind on the word "scared" and increases that feeling
It is as if the word "not" didn't even exist.

The affirmation should be in your style of language.
I found the following affirmation on a calendar.

"Energy, enthusiasm, and sparkling health are my birthright.
I accept these priceless treasures with gratitude, knowing that as I give out energy,
more rushes in."

This is a very poetic affirmation and I totally agree with the basic sentiment and philosophy in it. The problem is that I do not speak or think in this way. My mind would have difficulty accepting this affirmation because it just doesn't sound like me. If, however, it is the way you think, by all means use it.

If I wanted to use this affirmation I would change it into my words. "I deserve to have energy, enthusiasm and good health. I accept all of life's gifts. The more energy I use, the more I will have." This is more like the way I speak and think.
What should my affirmations be about?

Your affirmations can include how you would like to feel: "I am energetic; I feel wonderful; or I feel safe".

Your affirmations can include how you would like your life to be: "I am a prosperous person; I attract positive people into my life; I lose weight easily or I solve problems easily". Another way to develop affirmations is to use them to counter your negative self-talk. When you catch yourself saying something negative to yourself, develop an affirmation that counteracts the negative thought and start using it until you feel differently about yourself.

Let's say you are working on a project. The project doesn't have to be a work project, it can be an interpersonal problems or just some personal problem you are trying to solve. You can't seem to figure out what to do or you run into a snag of some sort. All of a sudden your confidence sags and you catch yourself thinking "I can't do this. I bit off more than I can do. I'm just not smart enough."

All this negative thinking, if allowed to persist, will guarantee that you fail. Instead, make up some affirmations to counter this thinking. For example, you might use "I feel confident, I am a success, I do things now and I think clearly". I would repeat each affirmation five times three or four times during the day until I felt better about myself and about completing the project.

Repeat Affirmations

Affirmations: How And Why They Work To Help You Change.
An affirmation is a statement that you make to yourself. Everyone uses them intentionally or unintentionally. You wake up in the morning, jump out of bed and exclaim "I feel great".
That is a positive affirmation.
You drag yourself out of bed in the morning and whimper "I feel rotten".
That is a negative affirmation.
Both statements help to maintain the emotional state you are in.

Our self-talk, the things we say to ourself, is very important because it directly effects our conscious and subconscious mind.
We listen to everything we say to ourself.

Because our affirmations work so well to maintain the state of mind we are in, we can use them to change that state of mind. True, it takes more work to change how we think and feel, but, if you follow these guidelines, the use of affirmations can become a strong, useful tool for helping yourself become happier and healthier.

Our mind learns fastest with what is called "massed practice".
Repeating the same affirmation five times in a row is "massed practice".
The problem is that it also produces quick forgetting. "Spaced practice",
the process of repeating all the affirmations three or more times during the day,
produces slow learning and slow forgetting. Combining both "massed and spaced"
practice gives us the best of both: fast learning and slow forgetting.

Saying it with feeling adds another psychological dimension to the affirmation.
Any thought that has an emotion attached to it will have a greater impact on our mind that an idea devoid of feeling.

Another variation you can use to strengthen the effect of the affirmation is to add a visualization to it. This will make your affirmation significantly more effective.
Do this by taking one of your affirmation sessions and instead of saying the affirmations, close your eyes and visualize yourself doing or being like the affirmation says.

The visualization adds another dimension of power to your affirmation

You should also use your affirmations whenever you catch yourself using negative self-talk.
Start repeating your positive affirmations as soon as possible.

Used correctly, affirmations for personal growth and self improvement can help you relieve your depression, anxiety and fear and anger. They can help you lose weight as well as quit smoking. Affirmations will help you build your self-confidence, self-esteem and assertiveness and they are an excellent tool for stress management.

Patience

One problem many people have is impatience
They use their affirmations on and off for a week or two and nothing happens so they quit.
It took us a long time to become the way we are.
Give your affirmations at least a serious 30 day try.
If what you are trying to change is a serious problem, you will probably need more than 30 days.
You might even need more than affirmations to produce the changes you seek.

Affirmations are just one of the tools of change.
Most of us will need more than one tool and longer than one month.
Used correctly, however, affirmations are a good tool and they do help us change, grow and heal. As you use your affirmations you will become more conscious of your thoughts, feelings and behavior and you will start thinking and feeling better about yourself. As this happens, your behavior will begin to change in the direction you are trying to go.
Don't give up because you are gaining greater and greater control of your thoughts, feelings and behavior.

The easiest way might be to select four or five affirmations, write them on an index card and repeat them silently or out loud during the day.
Here are a few guidelines that will also help.
If you are actively using the affirmations, keep the number to a maximum of six.
When you are repeating the affirmations, repeat each one four or five times before moving on to the next one. When repeating the affirmations, put some feeling into it and think about what you are trying to accomplish. Repeating the affirmation out loud is better than doing it silently as you also hear it when it's out loud. If you are in a situation where you can't repeat it out loud, do it silently.
That is still better than not doing it at all.

Do your affirmations soon after you wake up as it will help focus your day.
Do your affirmations just before going to sleep as it will be working in your subconscious mind all night.
You should also try to fit in your affirmations two or three more times during the day. When you fit them in isn't important as long as they are spaced out during the day.
This takes advantage of two important principles in psychology.

"Some day the medical profession will wake up and realize that unresolved emotional issues are the main cause of 85% of all illnesses. When they do, EFT will be one of their primary healing tools .... as it is for me."

What is EFT?

EFT is based on a new discovery that has provided thousands with relief from pain, diseases and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is an emotional version of acupuncture except needles aren't necessary. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere. It launches off the EFT Discovery Statement which says...

"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."

And because our physical pains and diseases are so obviously connected with our emotions the following statement has also proven to be true...

"Our unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pains and diseases."

This common sense approach draws its power from (1) time-honored Eastern discoveries that have been around for over 5,000 years and (2) Albert Einstein, who told us back in the 1920's that everything (including our bodies) is composed of energy. These ideas have been largely ignored by Western Healing Practices and that is why EFT often works where nothing else will. As you will clearly see, conventional healing methods have overlooked the obvious.

More benefits await you...
    •     You can make enormous strides by introducing EFT into your therapy process
(whether you are a professional or a client). Instead of taking months or years using conventional "talk therapy," EFT often does the job for you cleanly and thoroughly in one or two sessions ... and sometimes does it in moments. We label these latter near-instant results as "one minute wonders." Do EFT properly and you will likely experience them 50% of the time.
    •     Once you have seen how well EFT clears out emotional debris, your next step is to notice how physical ailments start to fade. Headaches, back pains and other discomforts tend to improve or vanish. Your vision may become clearer and everyday stress takes less toll on your system. Check out the EFT at Work section for an impressive list of both emotional and physical healings.
    •     Accordingly, you can use it for just about everything. That is one of the most astonishing things about it. You use the same basic procedure for your fear of public speaking as you do for improving your golf score. You can also use it for everything from the common cold to cancer. Further, we have had success with nearly every emotional issue on the books...including fear, trauma, depression, grief and schizophrenia. That is why you can consider it the missing link in your pursuit of health and happiness. Once you truly recognize the Universal nature of EFT you will eagerly join our growing throng of enthusiasts. There is nothing like it, anywhere.

Possible EFT limitations
I'm not saying here that EFT is perfect. We don't get 100%. But it usually works well and the results are sometimes spectacular. It often works where nothing else will and it represents a Doorway to your new Healing High-Rise.

You will find that EFT is usually quite gentle and you can often achieve substantial relief with little or no pain. This is not true for everyone, however. Some people's issues are so intense that the mere mention of them causes emotional or physical pain. But, given time, even these are often resolved efficiently with EFT.

A small percentage of our population (best estimate is less than 3%)
have serious emotional disabilities and thus newcomers to EFT are advised to exercise common sense in this regard. While you can use EFT to generate impressive relief for the vast majority of the world's population, please don't go where you aren't qualified.

STRESS ARTICLE- THE CONNECTION BETWEEN STRESS AND HEALTH
By Eric Robins, MD

I have an interesting case report. About 6 months ago I saw a woman in my urology clinic for incontinence. Before I entered the exam room I was reviewing her outpatient chart and noticed that she was on anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication. In my mind, emotional issues often affect physical symptoms and diseases, which is why I try to use EFT as often as I can in the clinical setting. The fact that it can be used so quickly is a big plus because I don't have a lot of time to waste. I have some presuppositions that I use with regards to the effect of emotions on health:

1) stress and negative emotions aren't in the head, they are stored in our bodies

2) people will unconsciously tense down on smooth and skeletal muscles to hold painful issues and traumas down in the body and prevent them from coming up to conscious awareness

3) where stress and negative emotions are stored in our bodies, they block the flow of the body's healing energy

With these thoughts in mind, I entered the exam room. A bladder ultrasound revealed that she was only emptying half of her urine volume after she voided (i.e. she was retaining urine). In females, it is rare to find an anatomic blockage responsible for this urine retention. More commonly we find that these women are storing stress in their pelvic floor and sphincter muscles, so that when they urinate the muscles aren't relaxed and the bladder doesn't empty. Also, in this woman's case, some of her depression medications were serving to relax the bladder and were likely contributing to the problem.

I told her that often times stress can contribute to physical symptoms. When I say this to patients, I am real careful that the person doesn't think I am telling them that the problem is "all in their head." I usually tell them the following metaphor. I'll say, "if someone has an ulcer, they have a real physical hole in their stomach, isn't that right?; but if you ask the question, 'gee, I wonder why they developed an ulcer in the first place', the answer might be, 'Well, they were producing too much stomach acid, and it burnt a hole in the stomach.' But, if you ask the question, 'I wonder why they were making too much stomach acid, the answer might be that they had too much stress and anxiety." I want them to be clear that emotional issues physicalize in the body.
